Mission & Purpose

MISSION

The Mission of The Candlewood Homeowners Alliance is to create a strong voice for Candlewood area residents in matters affecting our lake, our homes and our wallets. Our intent is to be transparent, and fact-driven as we work with the organizations (like First Light, CT DEEP, The Candlewood Lake Authority and the various local WPCA groups) who influence environmental and recreational lake policy. We will be a communication conduit to and from our at-large members as we engage with these important area entities.

PURPOSE

Why have we created the Candlewood Homeowners Alliance? Bottom line, there are several thousand homes surrounding Candlewood Lake in Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford and Sherman and the local real estate taxes generated by these homes is estimated to be in excess of $40,000,000 annually. Since we reside across all five of these municipalities around the lake, all too often our voice is fragmented and limited to local town or city governance where other, non-lake matters typically rule the agenda. We believe that better coordination is needed and will strive to be the voice at the stakeholder table — whether it be with individual municipalities or with the lake governing entities, related to matters and policies which affect our cherished and shared asset.
